Community Captain Responsibilities
Hoosiers for Higher Education depends on the efforts of many dedicated volunteers. Community Captains serve a vital role as coordinators for the other HHE members in their local legislative districts. Community captain duties include:
- Promoting the higher education message in the local community.
- Assisting with recruiting new HHE members.
- Helping promote and attending the annual legislative briefing/faculty forum in their community.
- Contacting local legislators with information about IU issues at the Statehouse.
- Monitoring local media for stories about higher education, and forwarding copies to the HHE office in Bloomington.
- Attending HHE legislative visit days at the Statehouse.
In addition, Community Captains are invited to attend occasional special receptions and legislative briefings.
